Ump Jim Joyce Ruins History, And Galarraga’s Perfect Game

Jim Joyce blows perfect game 247x300 Ump Jim Joyce Ruins History, And Galarragas Perfect Game

Its the top of the 9th.  No one on base.  26 batters to the plate so far have faced Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga.  Every single batter thus far has failed.  The perfect game is in the bag.

Then, out of no where, Umpire and what I assume first-class douchebag Jim Joyce makes the worst and most influential bad call I’ve ever seen.  The Indian’s SS and 9th hitter, Jason Donald, is running to first on a ground ball, trying to beat out the throw and the perfect game.  ”Safe!!”  Even though the throw beats Donald by half of a stride, he is called safe, ruining a perfect game, something that has only happened 20 times in baseball’s long history dating back to the 1800′s.

Cabrera and the rest of the team go nuts. Leyland argues to no avail, and there was no discussion between the Ump’s to discuss the call.  The game would have been over.  Should have been over.

Jim Joyce has ruined possibly the greatest moment of the 28 year old Galarraga’s life and a key moment in baseball history. This would have been the third perfect game in a month.  There hasn’t ever been 3 in a season.  There has been 20 total in 125 years.  And this one gets ruined on a terrible call that everyone could make.

As obvious as this is for a replay argument, I’m not going to touch this.  What I will say, is that if Major League Baseball doesn’t overturn this call and call it a perfect game, I think the Tiger’s should boycott their next games until they change the call.

If they refuse to overturn the call, you’ve got to throw down some major league discipline to Jim Joyce.

Just add this to the reason no one watches baseball.  It’s an extremely biased game that is solely dependent on umpires to determine the outcome of the game every night.  Fix this soon, or you’ll have a huge problem on your hands, MLB.
