Derek Anderson Freaks Out, I Suppose To Get A Coors Light Commercial

In case you haven’t seen it yet, Derek Anderson freaked out a a reporter after the 49ers game when the reporter said he was laughing on the sidelines.

This is how the Coors commercial will go:

How often do you drink delicious mountain rocky refreshment Coors Light?

DA: “EVERY SINGLE WEEK. IT’S MY HEART AND SOUL.”

How serious do you take how your beer tastes?

DA:  ”I DON’T THINK IT’S FUNNY. I PUT MY HEART AND SOUL INTO THIS SH*T. EVERY SINGLE WEEK! EVERY SINGLE WEEK!”

How often do you hope that Coors Light will come up with a new gimmick?

DA: “EVERY SINGLE WEEK. IT’S NOT FUNNY, NOTHING TO ME IS FUNNY.”

Thursday Night Pick: Ravens at Falcons (Week 10)

The first Thursday night game (outside of opening week) is here and will be for the rest of the season. So if 13 hours of games on Sunday and Monday just isn’t quite enough, you’re in luck.

Baltimore Ravens (+1) at Atlanta Falcons (-1) OU – 44 pts

ravens at falcons 580x65 Thursday Night Pick: Ravens at Falcons (Week 10)

The Ravens are coming off a huge win at home over the Dolphins, who have been a good road team over the past few seasons. They’ll be coming into Atlanta on a short week for this Thursday night game. Falcons won their game on Sunday, but Josh Freeman for TB almost had another big come from behind 4th quarter drive to add to his resume.

Not only is Atlanta one of the best home teams in the NFL, but they get this week at home on short rest in prime time.

Vegas has Atlanta as -1 point favorites, and I’ve got them as a slightly larger 62% favorite at -2.43. So The pick is for the Falcons to beat the Ravens giving 1 point.

Monday Night Pick: HOU Texans at IND Colts

I’m not sure what is more interesting at this point. Who wins the Texans vs. Colts game or whoe wins the ratings battle between Monday Night Football and the World Series.

Last night, Sunday Ngiht Football beat out the World Series in ratings. It was the first time ever that a regular season game beat out a World Series game in ratings. Go Rangers!

Tonight it shouldn’t be close. Everyone has the networks on their TV. But ESPN is cable. This would be really embarassing if Peyton Manning and Arian Foster on cable really beat out the World Series clincher. Although, I can see it happening, and it might.

Colts texans pick monday night 580x66 Monday Night Pick: HOU Texans at IND Colts

To the Monday Night Matchup. Colts were probably pretty damn embarassed in week 1 when the Texans won probably their most important win in franchise history. Arian Foster, an undrafted free agent, ran ALL OVER the Colts to burst onto the scene with 231 yards and 3 TD’s.

Superbowl hangover for sure. But the Texans finally asserted themselves as a threat to that division in finally beating Peyton Manning. This one shouldn’t go the same. Although pretty much everyone on the Colts is injured and out on both offense and defense, the Colts are so well coached and stacked with similar talent at the WR position that it shouldn’t be much of a factor. The Texans will either try to force it to Andre Johnson early or go to the ground heavily to test the Indy defense. If the Colts run D can stand strong in the first quarter and the can grab a lead, it should be all Colts all night.

Have you ever bet against Peyton Manning in a night game? Well you lost that bet. Peyton is just deadly at prime time and night games.

The win is definitely on the Colts side, but I the Texans are being overlooked by Vegas as 10.5 point underdogs. Andre Johnson is back and healthy, and they have found a second running back threat in Derrick Ward.

I have the Colts projected to win as 77% favorites in the game, by a spread of -6.18.

Sunday Night Football Trumps World Series Ratings

World Series Ratings Beat by NFL 300x228 Sunday Night Football Trumps World Series Ratings

This wasn’t at all I surprise to me, as I predicted this one coming a long ways away.

Sunday Ngiht Football featuring the past two Superbowl champs Steelers at Saints produced a 11.8 rating (meaning 11.8% of TV households) vs. a 10.4 rating for the Giants at Rangers game 4.

It was not only the past two Superbowl champs, it was two of the league most famous (and infamous) quarterbacks. Ben Roethlisberger vs. Drew Brees. Brees and Sean Payton’s genius were at work against the NFL’s best defense beating the Steelers 20-10.

The Rangers and Giants have a bunch fo great stories going for them in this World Series, but the problem is no one could care less about either teams’ stories. It wasn’t Lee vs. Lincecum, it was 21 year old Bumgarner vs. Tommy Hunter (who?). Neither of these teams are east coast teams, which draw the highest ratings.

The Rangers just went bankrupt because no one cared about them. And the Giants are only popular in the bay area in California, where they are wildly popular. Once the false aura surrounding the world series faded away, not a lot of people wanted to watch.

Another loss for the MLB. All they can really do is hope and pray that both the NFL and NBA are simultaneously locked out next year in an effort to screw over players and make the rich(er) richer.

Randy Moss Waived After 4 Weeks

Randy Moss Waived Randy Moss Waived After 4 Weeks

After throwing a 3rd round pick at Randy Moss 4 weeks ago, the Vikings have cut the future hall-of-famer from their roster.

In 4 games, Moss had 13 catches for 174 yards and 2 TD’s. He blew a couple of easy for Moss type catches that would have earned the Vikings another win.

This come just hours after Moss made some pretty ridiculous statements to the media on Sunday after the game. He pretty much just talked about how great Belichick was and how awesome of an organization the Patriots were. He also threw in a couple of jabs at the Vikings effort on and off the field. Here’s the transcription of some of his statements:

“Let me hold it down. I really haven’t had a chance to talk to the guys, so this is no disrespect to the Minnesota Vikings and their organization. The captains, Vince Wilfork, Tom Brady, Jerod MayoKevin Faulk, I miss those guys. I miss the team. It was hard for me to come here and play. It has been an up-and-down roller-coaster emotionally all week. Then to be able to come in here and see those guys and running plays that I know what they’re doing. The success they had on the field – the running game – so I kind of know what type of feeling they have in their locker room and I just want to be able to tell the guys that I miss the hell out of them, every last helmet in that locker room. Deion Branch came up to me after the game and I have never really had the chance to meet Deion Branch, but it was definitely a pleasure to meet him. Coach Belichick gave me an opportunity to be a part of something special and that is something I really take to heart. I actually salute Coach Belichick and his team for the success that they have had before me, during me and after me. So I am actually stuck for words, just because there are a lot of memories here.

“To the New England Patriots’ fans, that ovation at the end of the game, that really felt heart-warming. I think I actually shed a tear for that. Like I said, it has been an emotional roller-coaster this whole week. I tried to prepare; tried to talk to the coaches and players about how this game was going to be played – a couple tendencies here and a couple tendencies there. But the bad part about it, you have six days to prepare for a team and on the seventh day, that’s Sunday, meaning today, I guess they come over to me and say, ‘Dang Moss, you were right about a couple plays and a couple schemes that they were going to run.’ It hurts as a player that you put a lot of hard work in all week and toward the end of the week, Sunday, when you get on the field, that is when they acknowledge the hard work you have put in all week. So that is a disappointment.

“You know, I can’t really say enough about this team and this organization. I met with Mrs. Kraft before the game, because I didn’t really have a chance to talk to her before I left, and I just thank Mrs. Kraft for the opportunity to let me be a part of something special. The New England Patriots have always been a special organization, and I have always watched from afar.

“When I got drafted by Minnesota, and I think I said this a couple of weeks ago, I felt obligated to try and bring a Super Bowl to Minnesota, and this season is still not over. Do I know what next season and the future is going to bring? No I do not, but all I can say is that it is a lot of work that we leave on the field each day. There is a lot of film study that we leave in that room each day. I know how hard these guys work here in New England and the only thing that I really tried to do was take what the best coach in football history has brought upon me, or the knowledge that he has given me about the game of football, and I try to just sprinkle it off to the guys the best way I know how. So I am going to go ahead and end this interview. I have my family to see.

“I am definitely down that we lost this game, because I didn’t really expect us to lose this game knowing that we had a few things that we had to clean up. But like I said, they played a good game. I wish we could have had that three at the end of the half. Maybe it could have been different, maybe not. I don’t know how many more times I am going to be up here in New England, but I am going to leave the New England Patriots and Coach Belichick here with a salute.

“I love you guys. I miss you. I’m out.”

Out indeed. This feels more like the Moss we knew and love at the end of his time in Minnesota and throughout his entire time in Oakland.

Couple this with Childress taking jabs at Favre last week, and you ahve a recipe for disaster for a team struggling for wins and losing hopes for playoffs.
